Looking for big rabbit cages online? Then welcome to BigRabbitCages.com - your one stop source for large rabbit cages.

Rabbit owners generally keep their rabbits inside for more interaction with them and to protect them from any outside dangers. So it makes sense to choose the perfect sized cage for your rabbit's maximum enjoyment. Some questions you may have when trying to decide on what cage to buy might be things like: "How big should the cage be?", "What cage design and materials have the most durability?", and "Can more than one rabbit fit into a cage?"

Size of Rabbit cages

How big should the cage be that you buy? Well, the bigger the better, especially if your rabbit will be spending most of its time in there which is usually the case. Perhaps the biggest cage that is practical and suitable for your home. As a general rule when deciding on the right size cage, choose a cage that is about 4 times the size of your rabbit.

Dwarf breeds that weigh less than 3-1/2 pounds once matured they need at least 2-1/2 sq ft of cage space. Small breeds weighing from 2-1/2 to 5 pounds would take up to 3-1/2 sq ft of cage space. Medium size breeds of 4-1/2 to 7 pounds require up to 5 sq ft of cage space. Now the giant breeds can weigh up to 25 pounds and their cage space needs to be at least 11-12 sq ft. Due to the size and weight of these giant rabbits, stronger cages are required.

Cage Size for more than one Rabbit

All cage space requirements above are for one rabbit, so if you’re planning to add a companion for your pet rabbit, keep in mind that you may need to double the size of the cage you're thinking about buying.

And if you don’t have the space requirements needed for your particular size rabbit, then get a multi level cage like the large Super Pet Multi-Floor cage. It's discussed in more detail below. A multi-level rabbit cage will suit dwarf, small, some medium sized rabbits, if you have more than one rabbit, or simply want the extra play space for your rabbit. The Extra large Super Pet My First Home Deluxe for Rabbits is also a great choice if you have more than the one rabbit.

Cage Heights

When choosing the particular size cage, take into account the height of the cage. A rabbit’s cage needs to be tall enough for your rabbit to sit upright or stand without their ears touching the roof of the cage. Cages of 18” in height are needed for the smaller breeds while medium to large rabbits will require a taller cage.

Cage Doors

Check that the doors on the cage are big enough for your rabbit to pass through easily. If you intend to use a litter tray this should also be able to fit through the main door. Side doors are best, as they allow your rabbit to come and go from their cage easily, as well as provide access for daily maintenance to exchange food and water bowls.

The instructions and assembly of the cage was easy. The removable tray is great! It is one of the major reasons why I bought this particular cage. It is easily removed and cleaned; it is also quite deep, so any mess my rabbit makes is not "piled" near him. I reviewed a lot of cages before deciding to purchase this one. In terms of the cage dimensions and the removable tray as well as the easy opening top....this was the best buy I could find.

Marchioro (Tommy K) Guinea Pig & Rabbit Cage - Large (40 x 21 x 20.5 inches)

Large Rabbit Cage

This is a large single floor cage, made of light weight and hard wearing plastic with a strong metal cage top. This cage is a nice cage to get if you're not in need of a multi-floor cage and don't desire the extra height.

The above 4 rabbit cages are our top recommendations. They're all quality rabbit cages that are larger than most and they're priced right. However there are certainly other large cages available. If the above recommended rabbit cages don't fit the bill or if you just want to look at additional options, go check out the Large Rabbit Cages on eBay. They have a wide variety of cages available.

Some closing notes...

When choosing a big rabbit cage, check the size and weight of your rabbit. Make sure your rabbit can stand up in its cage. Materials should be durable and the cage size should be suited to your breed of rabbit, as well as providing easy access for maintenance and plenty of room for your rabbit to move in and out of their cage with ease.
